Travel insurance protects against unexpected expenses due to travel mishaps, illnesses or accidents outside your home province. From the expense to rebook your flight, creature comforts during delays to massive medical bills, travel insurance is there to keep you financially safe.
The healthcare coverage provided by your province is quite limited when it comes to supporting you outside the province. Typically, you would only get reimbursed a small fraction of the cost of even a quick visit to a doctor in the United States.
Deductibles are the amount you pay before your insurance responds. Larger deductibles provide larger discounts.
A pre-existing medical condition refers to any diagnosis, illness, or medical condition that you have before embarking on a trip. Travel insurance policies usually do not cover these conditions unless they are stable. However, with Xodus' policies, you do not have to worry about stability periods. This is because Xodus has a personalized process where you declare all of your pre-existing medical conditions.
Stability periods refer to the length of time before a scheduled travel departure during which any pre-existing medical condition should not have been diagnosed, had a change in treatment, or worsened. These periods may range from a few days to six months. However, Xodus' policies do not demand stability periods due to the personalized approach we take during the application process.
You can buy travel insurance as soon as you confirm your travel plans, but before your trip starts. If you want to extend your coverage while you are at your destination, you must purchase the additional coverage before your current policy expires.
The medical portion of travel insurance policies is tax-deductible. Xodus includes the tax receipt for you to keep for your records.
When you travel with your family, a family coverage policy can keep things simple. These policies cover up to 10 children as well as parents or guardians.
We refer to these as top-ups. Essentially, you can purchase an additional policy that will start after your annual policy expires. This allows for seamless coverage during your longer trips, giving you peace of mind.
